Gifts

Weddings can be a large expense for participants and guests. We don't want to make your burden any worse by expecting you to give us fancy presents. Your presence at the wedding (or your good wishes) is gift enough for us and is more gift than we have any right to expect. You are not expected to bring a gift, any gifts will be appreciated.

If you do feel you must spend money on us, we would prefer that you make a donation in our name through the I Do Foundation, or to a charity of your choice. By doing so you will be spreading the joy of our union much farther afield.

The I Do Foundation also maintains gift registries with partner stores that donate a portion of the cost of the gift purchases to the charities we selected. We have registered for a few items. To use the I Do Foundation website:

  1. Open the I Do Foundation website (www.idofoundation.org).
  2. Enter one of our names (Gregg Lind OR Cathy Beil) in the "wedding guest" boxes on the right side of the home page.
  3. On the page that opens, click on our names.
  4. To see which charities we have selected, click on the "Our Charity" menu item near the top of the page. Currently, we have links for:
    • Doctors Without Borders
    • Lambda Legal Defense Fund
    • Electronic Frontier Foundation
    • Free Software Foundation
    • Lambda Legal Defense Fund
    • Freedom To Marry
    • Archaelogical Conservancy
    • Human Rights Watch
    • Human Rights Campaign Foundation
  5. To make an actual donation, or to see our gift registry, click on the "Our Registry" menu item near the top of the page. Our stores can be seen by clicking on "I Do Gift Registry". A non-zero percentage of your purchase will go to our charities.

N.b.: If you prefer to make a direct donation in our name, and avoid the hassle of "I Do" the issues we care about (i.e., we are FOR them) are gay rights, abortion rights, and environmental causes, so any organization supporting these issues would be fine as well.

The thing we could really use, besides your love and support, is help with the actual wedding. We have enough jobs for anyone who wants one, with all levels of responsibility. Why not check out our how you can help page for more specifics. We will need everything from dance hosts to tourism guides to lodging hosts to chauffeurs. Got a skill and want to help, let us know!
