Transportation and Lodging Information

We don't want lodging costs to get in the way of anyone coming, so we're going to try to put people up in our new house and with friends and family where we can. Of course, if you want to splurge on a hotel, certainly go ahead! If you're interested in sharing lodging or transportation with other guests, we encourage you to use the message boards to communicate with each other. Thanks!

We have not reserved blocks of rooms because we don’t expect a large number of out of town guests, so feel free to book your own rooms. If you have trouble finding a place please let us know. And, please use lodging forum to tell us/others where you're staying, if you've found a good deal, or if you'd like to share a room.

Accomodations in Lake City

If you're coming in from out of town and would like to stay in Lake City here are a few options that we would recommend:

Basic: Lake City AmericInn, 877-345-5611, http://www.americinnmn.net/lakecity/

Fancy Schmancy: The Willows, 651-345-9900, http://www.willowsontheriver.com/

There are a lot of other options as well, see http://www.lakecitymn.org/accommodations.html for more information.

Of the hotels listed, the nicest are The Rivage, The Willows, and The Alaskan Lodge.

Lake City has a number of comfortable lodging options at a variety of prices. See Lake City's lodging web page for more information. Red Wing also has a lot of options, but we're hoping to centralize our guests in Lake City to make communication and get-togethers easier.

For the thrifty and adventurous (and those who like the idea of rolling out of bed and being at the ceremony), camping is available at Frontenac State Park, check out their camping page for more information. Keep in mind that it's likely to be pretty hot in July.

Accomodations in Red Wing, MN

We recommend that everyone stay in Lake City, if possible. It will make it easier for us to spend time together, and co-ordinate activities. If you would prefer to stay somewhere else, Red Wing is a good choice, and offers opportunities for shopping, antiquing, and tours of the historic Red Wing Shoe and Red Wing Pottery fatories. Use the "where to stay" option on the Red Wing Web Site --http://www.redwing.org to find lodging.

Where We Will Be

We plan to stay in Lake City Friday and Saturday nights and to have activities down there on Friday. However, our house in Minneapolis is also open to anyone who’d like to stay there (rooms with beds even!), let us know if you’re interested or if you have ANY concerns about a place to stay - we don't want that to keep you from coming.

Please also let us know if you need transportation from the airport or from your lodging location to the festivities.

Please return your RSVP's as soon as possible. Tell us (and let us know what kind of lodging/price you're looking for - a room of your own, a shared room, the floor (there will be options from $0, for people who don't mind sharing or sleeping on the floor, to luxurious, for people who don't mind spending a bundle) - so that we can start setting up places for people to stay (since hotel rooms are at a premium in the summer in the Lake City area).
